Kermit Talmadge Tolley Sr.

Arden - Kermit Talmadge Tolley, Sr., 72, of 5 West Haven Drive died Sunday September 10, 2006 at Memorial Mission Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he faithfully attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was president and founder of Medical Emergency Ambulance Inc. since 1989 and formerly worked for 30 years with the Buncombe County EMS where he was a member of the first Paramedic unit in Buncombe County and served with the Buncombe County Sheriff Dept. for 6 years under Harry P. Clay. He fomerly worked with Penland Funeral Home and Ambulance Service, was a Red Cross Volunteer and instructor, NCOEMS evaluator, honorary member of Skyland Fire and Rescue, member of the Antique Car Club of America, member of the Smokey Mtn. C.B. Radio Club with the handle Rambler KQM-9025, was the founder of TRC Racing, Inc. and member of WNC Safe Kids. He was a son of the late Francis Fredrick and Thelma Grace Hamlin Tolley and was also preceded in death by his twin sister, Katherine Green. Surviving are his wife, Sharon DeLane Anderson Tolley of the home; son, Kermit T. Tolley, Jr. and wife Lisa of Arden; daughter, Tonya Gibson and husband Matt of Arden; grandchildren, Cody, Colby and Matison; brothers, Frank Tolley of Asheville, Harry Tolley of Black Mountain and Paul Tolley of Alexander and co-worker and special friend, Patty Creasman of Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Robinson, Rev. Erick Haney, Rev. Jonathan Howell Rogers, Rev. David Crymble, Rev. Roy Rector, Mr. Jerry Vehaun and Mr. Tom Cowan officiating. Burial will be in Roberts Memorial Park with the Buncombe County Honor Guard providing honors. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 9:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
