Wickie Smith

Wickie Smith was welcomed into the arms of his Savior on March 23, 2025.

Wickie was born to Willie and Verdie Smith in McVeigh, KY. He spent much of his life in Michigan and resided in North Carolina for the latter half.

He is survived by his children: Eric Smith (Adrienne), Mark Smith (Mary), and Julie Smith. Surviving siblings include: Bardi, Skip, Thurman, Arlene, Linda, and Sharlene. Wickie is also survived by granddaughter, Nikki Gonzalez (Laurent); grandson, Jeffrey Smith; and great granddaughters: Zoey, Emma, and Brynlee; and great grandsons: Gunner and Walker.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna Jeannene Smith, with whom he shared 50 years of matrimony. Wickie was also preceded in death by his brothers: Darryl, Darris, and Lynn; and sisters: Dimples, Dorothy, Elene, and Darlene.

Wickie will be remembered for his devotion to family and enjoyment of the Blue Ridge Mountains, bluegrass music, and love of foods, especially breakfasts, Coney dogs, cheeseburgers, and ribs. He enjoyed spending as much time as possible outdoors, golfing, hunting or fishing.

A private graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Little Sandy Mush Cemetery, Leicester, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
