Tracy Earl James, a cherished son, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, in his hometown of Asheville, where he was born on July 11, 1967.
He was known as a "Jack of All Trades," who was a master of none but better than a master of one, possessing a remarkable ability to tackle any challenge that came his way, earning the admiration of many with his versatile skills and commitment to helping others.
Tracy was a handyman extraordinaire, beloved for his readiness to lend a hand and share his extensive knowledge. His personality shone bright—he was a warm-hearted individual who took great joy in serving those around him. Tracy's generosity and willingness to assist would leave a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Gayle Jaye. Tracy's legacy continues through his beloved children: Morgan Munger and her husband Jason, Dalton James, Michael James, and Isabella James. He also found great joy in being a grandfather to Mia and Millie, who brought him immense happiness.
Tracy's family circle includes his sisters: Gina Buckner and her husband Emory, and Lacie Streeter and her husband Eric. His brother, Jason James, along with his niece, Aleesha English (Lucas), and nephew, Bryan English and his wife Stephanie, will remember him fondly. His life was further enriched by great-nieces and nephews: Levi Chandler, Isaac English, Aiden Chandler, Aubrey Reed, and Makenzie Cessaman.
Among his close companionships was his best friend, Brooke, who stood by him through thick and thin. Tracy’s beloved dog, Sammie, was also a constant source of love and comfort.
Tracy Earl James leaves behind memories that will be held dear by all who knew him. He will be missed profoundly, not only for his spirited approach to life but also for the loving connections he made with family and friends. He now joins his late uncle, DJ, in eternal rest.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.
