Thomas Michael Quinn

March 6, 1945 — November 8, 2025

Canton

Thomas Michael "Mike" Quinn, 80, of Canton, NC, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, November 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Joel, Jim, Ben, Hal, Galen, and sisters Freida Rhyne and Hilda Stansel.

Mike was born in Cherryville, NC, to Roy Roosevelt Quinn and Lottie Georganna Chapman Quinn. He attended Western Carolina University, where he received a B.A. in Business Administration and Clemson University, where received a Masters degree in Educational Management and Supervision. He was an educator for many years, including serving as an assistant principal in Anderson County, SC, and later as a teacher at Western Carolina University.

Mike also launched and ran multiple businesses, including home construction and a clothing store. He loved meeting and talking to people and was known for his smile and quick wit.

Mike had a servant's heart, and was always looking for ways to help others. He would often quietly find ways to help make someone's life better, and to provide assistance to those in need. When he retired, he served as a school bus driver, where he remembered every child's birthday and would bring a cupcake for them to celebrate. He also served as a shuttle bus driver for Biltmore Estate and kept his riders smiling and laughing as he shared the history of Biltmore along with his own humorous antecdotes and jokes. He loved cars, history, sweet treats, and traveling.

The most important thing in his life was when God called him out of darkness into His marvelous light through faith in Jesus Christ in the late 1980s.

Mike is survived by Jeanne Marie Boardman Quinn, his wife of 58 years, and their children: Shannon Quinn, Jonathan Quinn (Tammy), Matthew (Vania) Quinn, and Caroline (Mike) Cavacos, a brother, Steve Quinn, and a sister, Julia Quinn Ward. Also his beloved grandchildren Maisy, Anna, Joseph, Matthias, Victoria, Agnes, Isabella, Maggie, Jamison, and Caroline.

Mike was a faithful member of Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church.

A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Covenant Reformed Presbyterian Church, 281 Edgewood Rd, Asheville, NC 28804, with Rev Sean McCann officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Haywood County.
