Arden Thomas Buford Netherton, 88, of 229 Ledbetter Road went to be with his Lord Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He retired in 1981 from Southern Bell Telephone Company following 40 years of service, where at the time of his retirement, he was serving as Supervisor. He was a graduate of West Buncombe High School, was a member of Biltmore Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. Mr. Netherton was a son of the late Howard Leonidas Netherton and Daisy Emma Kirkpatrick Netherton. He also was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae McNutt Netherton who died September 7, 2007 and wife, Mary Beth Skipp Faulkner Netherton who died November 11, 1958 and brother, Wes Netherton. Surviving are his son, Dr. Mark Netherton and wife Lisa of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, June N. Jarvis and husband Derick of Arden; grandchildren, Scott, Shelby and Emma Netherton, Megan and Hayden Trenaman and Jessica and Kelsey Jarvis; sister, Lyla Blane of Weaverville; sister-in-law, Shirley Netherton of Weaverville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Pastor Sam McLamb officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family would like to extend a special thanks for the love and support of his Biltmore Baptist Church family.
