Asheville - Robena Tweed Gentry, Beanie 83, of Asheville, NC died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 when her body wore out and her heart simply stopped. Born August 14, 1934, she was daughter of the late Teddy Roosevelt Tweed and Lula Davis Tweed of the White Rock/Shelton Laurel section of Madison County. Robena was also preceded in death by her daughter Connie Lynne Gentry in 2011, and by eight of her eleven siblings, Obery Tweed, Helen McDonald, Edith Varney, Monroe Tweed, Charles Tweed, Eston Tweed, Tracy Tweed, and Mack Tweed. Robena is survived by her husband of 65 years, Doward J. Gentry, who as a neighbor and friend, has known her since she was 7 years old. She is also survived by her children, Ray Tweed of Marshall, NC, Dean Gentry of La Grange, Georgia (Pam), Sharon Owen (Rusty) and Kimberly Gentry Justus (Steve Williams) of Asheville, NC Grandchildren, Jessica Tweed (Kenny DeWeese), Jennifer Ball (Lee), Aben Gentry (Tamara), Chelsea Gentry, Hannah Patterson (Grant), Mason Gentry (Natasha), Katelin Bell, Matt Owen, Meredith Thomas (Paul), and Aidan Mae Justus. Great grandchildren, Laurie Gentry, Gideon Cuadrado, Judah Cuadrado, Liv Patterson, Maple Gentry, Harper Gentry, Vera Gentry, Taryn Bell, Maddox Richardson, Trenton DeWeese, Sarah Ball, and Graham Thomas. She is also survived by siblings Ama Lee Cutshall of Marshall, NC, Carl Tweed, of Black Mountain and Harry Tweed of Morganton, NC; Several special nieces and nephews, as well as dear friend, Lillie Cutshall. A military wife and homemaker, she was the epitome of devoted spouse, loving mother, and doting grandma. Early on she expressed her love for her family by being an expert caretaker and money manager, running the Gentry household better than any Chief Financial Officer. Beanies generosity was as legendary as her dry wit. She had natural comedic delivery, and a mischievous way about her that was endearing. Beanie enjoyed playing bingo, guessing puzzles on The Wheel Of Fortune, rooting for the Atlanta Braves, watching ACC Basketball, and on Saturday nights she clapped and sang along to, The Down Home Gospel Hour. She loved her special granddogs Opal and Pearl, and would call to ask for visits, even sleepovers regularly. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed. Receiving of friends will be held Tuesday, February 20th, from 6-8 PM at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 21st, at 2 PM, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mount Carmel Rd., Asheville. A private family burial will follow at Chapel Hill Baptist Church, Marshall, NC. Flowers welcome.
