Rena Cantrell, 89, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July, 10th, 2025, at Pisgah Manor of Asheville, while surrounded by her family.
She is a daughter of the late Harley Bascombe Cox and Mary Ramsey Cox, and the loving wife of the late Clarence Cantrell. She was the sister of the late Louise, Betty, Claude, Roy, Bertha, Loni, Mary Frances, Grassy, Willard, Frank, Jessie, and Nellie. A native of Leicester, NC, she retired from Square D. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ, and she loved to go fishing, camping, and doing her word puzzles.
Surviving are her sons: Roger Cantrell and wife Jackie, and Ronnie Cantrell and his late wife Ronda; daughter-in-law, Lisa Cantrell; grandchildren: Brittany Cantrell, Melissa Cantrell (Deshon Harper), Kristin Hensley (Tipsy Hensley), and Christina Wallace; and great-grandchildren: Mia Ray, Easton Hensley, Carson Hensley, and Zhy Harper.
The Cantrell family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff at Pisgah Manor for taking such good care of Rena while she was in their care.
Receiving of friends will be held Saturday, July 12, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, from 6-8 p.m., and a private burial service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Brick Church Cemetery, The Brick Church, C/O Peggy Bennett, 55 Piney Mountain Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
