Mitchell "Mitch" Carver Jr.

Leicester - Chief Warrant Officer 3 Mitchell Kyle Mitch Carver, Jr. U.S. Army, 31, of Bravo Company 1st Battalion 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Mountain Division, Ft. Drum, New York, formerly of 125 Green Valley Rd. went to be with Jesus as he was called from the battlefield of Mosul, Iraq on Friday, January 13, 2006. A native of Buncombe County, he was a member of Newfound Baptist Church where on the date of his death the church received his bi-weekly tithes. He was a 1992 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School where he played football, was on the track team and was a member of the Jr. R.O.T.C.. He attended UNC Charlotte for 3 years and was a student of the University of Colorado studying Criminal Justice. He joined the U.S. Army in March of 1995. During his time of service he has served in the Republic of Korea, Ft. Stewart, Georgia, Ft. Rucker, Alabama and at Ft. Drum in New York. He was a Rotary Pilot as well was a multi- engine fixed wing Pilot. He had received the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal with Valor Device, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Medal, NATO Medal and Combat Action Badge. He was a son of Mitchell Kyle Carver, Sr. and Judy Cable Carver of the home and was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carver and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawson Cable. Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Aaron Clarence Carver and wife Amanda Ball Carver of Leicester; niece Emily Jane Carver; nephew, Brent Lawson Carver girlfriend, Victoria Sanders of Enterprise, Ala.; uncles and aunts, Jack and Christine Williams, Julian and Peggy Carver, Wayne and Barbara Hague, Dr. Louie and Mary Carver, Hubert Cable, Rev. Harold Cable and Paul Burlin Bill Cable; and many special cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton, Jr., Rev. Mark Ball and Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Pallbearers will be CW2 Dan Heistand, CPT. Jeff Whittenberg, CW3 Jeff Jones, CW2 Tracy Hobbs, CW2 Dan Johnson and CW4 Jeff Chaney Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery 11 a.m. Monday, January 23, 2006. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8:00 P.M. Friday at Newfound Baptist Church.
