Margaret Coleman Mcelroy

Asheville - Margaret Coleman McElroy, 87, of 33 Baker Place, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the St. Joseph campus of Mission Hospitals System following an extended illness. Mrs. McElroy was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County and a member of Liberty Baptist Church of Candler. She was the daughter of the late Sam and Allie Harper Coleman and the wife of the late Roger McElroy, to whom she was married for 63 years, who passed away October 24, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles H. McElroy, who passed away May 13, 2000; 7 half sisters and 5 half brothers. Mrs. McElroy was a loving mother and wife, who was very devoted to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia J. McElroy of Asheville; sisters-in-law: Opal Dixon of Norfolk, VA and Faye McElroy of Clyde; brothers-in-law: JC McElroy of Asheville, Paul McElroy of Marshall, and Britton McElroy of Conway, AR; several nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, Joyce Boyd. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Todd Cole and Rev. Gene King officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, and at other times at the home of her daughter, Patricia McElroy, 33 Baker Place, Asheville. Flowers are appreciated and accepted, or memorials may be made to the Charles H. McElroy Memorial Engineering Scholarship Fund.
