Asheville Mabel Byers Follett, formerly of 80 Allen Street, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Rutherford County, she had resided in Asheville since 1957 and was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Follett was the daughter of the late Ethel Bell Byers Crain and step daughter of the late James Jim Crain and was the wife of George Ervin Follett, Jr. who died December 16, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her son, Patrick C. Hampton and sister, Jeanette Muzzins. Surviving are her three daughters from her first marriage to the now deceased Robert Earl Hampton, Gail Kent of Tallahassee, FL, Ann Hensley and husband Claude of Asheville and Jackie Hampton MacVean and husband Keith of Huntersville; brothers, Edward Crain of Asheville and Cecil Crain of Rutherfordton; 8 grandchildren; several great and great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 27, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Rick McCarson officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Follett was an advocate for all animals, and especially loved cats and birds and provided refuge and a loving home for many of them. Memorials may be made to: Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, P.O.
