Lonnie "Poppy" Thomas

Candler Lonnie Poppy Thomas, 51, of 1 Hubbard Lane, passed away Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was self-employed as a stone mason, operating L&J Stoneworks and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. Mr. Thomas was the son of Donald Albright and Lillie Mae English Thomas. In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Sandi Marie Ratcliff Thomas; daughter, Autumn Walker Thomas; son, R. Burke Williams and wife Melissa; granddaughters: Anna and Taylor Williams; sister, Wilma Sprinkle; brothers: Donald K. Thomas, Johnny Thomas and John Henry Thomas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Edgewood Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
