Lloyd Mack "Max" Taylor

August 20, 1934 — May 12, 2006

Candler - Lloyd Mack Max Taylor, 71, of 67 Conner Road, passed away Friday, May 12, 2006 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center following a brief illness. A native of Swain County, he had resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He retired from Velvet Ridge Nursery as a truck driver following 40 years of service. He was also a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Taylor was the son of the late Mark and Pearl Lacky Taylor. He was also preceded in death by a son, Randy Taylor, and two brothers, Clinton and Ronnie Taylor. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Edwards Taylor, of the home; daughter, Valerie Taylor of Edgewater, MD; seven sons: Phillip Max Taylor of Fletcher, Kenneth Edwards of Arden, Lloyd Charles Edwards and Ricky Taylor, both of Dillsboro, and Ronald Taylor, Raymond Taylor and Robert Taylor, all of Canton; sister, Susie Lunsford of South Carolina; four brothers: Rev. Billy Taylor of Enka, Genis Taylor of Fairview, Jessee Taylor of Leicester, and Bobby Taylor of Asheville; 16 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 4 step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Max and Shirley Taylor.
