Karen Lynn Banks Embler, born on August 20, 1949, in Asheville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 23, 2025, in her beloved hometown. With a dedicated career that spanned 40 years, Karen worked tirelessly at Mission Hospital in the Heart Tower and the Cardiology department as a Registered Nurse, serving her patients with unwavering commitment and compassion. Her colleagues recognized her as a strong woman, embodying courage and faith throughout her life in both her professional and personal endeavors.

A proud graduate of the Asheville–Buncombe Technical Community College, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Nursing, which set the foundation for her impactful nursing career. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Karen was a loving mother and grandmother who possessed a big heart for serving, caring for others, and providing a nurturing home for her family. She cherished the moments spent with her family, creating lasting bonds that will forever be remembered and treasured.

Karen is survived by her two sons, Jody Embler and Jeremy Embler, along with her grandsons, Hunter Embler and Riley Embler. She leaves behind many extended family members and friends who were fortunate to know her kind spirit and generous heart.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle Mina Lamons Banks and Parks Quillan Banks, her husband, Samuel Frederick Embler, who passed on October 2, 2001, and her beloved cat, Daisy Mae. Each member of her family played an integral role in her life, and their memories will continue to inspire those she has left behind.

No services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, Karen's family request donations be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue in her memory and love for animals, 23 Heritage Dr, Asheville, NC 28806.

Her legacy of love, service, and resilience will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
