John Curtis Warren, born on May 31, 1944, in Asheville, North Carolina, left this world on Saturday, October 18, 2025, peacefully returning to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He lived a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication to his family and community, earning the respect and affection of all who knew him.
John grew up on Candler Knob, and his roots ran deep in the mountainous landscape he called home. He earned his GED and later graduated from the United Christian Bible Institute. A devoted man of faith, he was Ordained as a Minister in 1978 under the United Christian Church & Ministerial Association, guiding many through life's challenges and joys with kindness and compassion. John attended Freedom Baptist Church and The United Christian Church in Cleveland, TN.
From a young age, John exemplified a strong work ethic. Starting out by assisting his brother with deliveries on a meat truck, he then spent many years at Skyland Distributors delivering beer and wine. It was during this time, in 1977, that he found The Lord and was saved while driving the truck, before moving on to work for Tennessee Pride. For most of his career, John worked diligently for Haddon House Food Products, specializing in the Ingles Supermarket Stores. Later in life, John continued to serve the community through his role at Anders-Rice Funeral Home, carrying his dedication and principles into each new chapter of his life. His colleagues knew him for his exceptional work ethic and commitment to providing for his family, traits that remained hallmarks of his character.
John's personality was one of warmth and approachability; he was known for his ability to engage with anyone he met. He had a unique talent for lovingly teasing those around him, bringing joy and laughter into their lives. His lifelong passion for ham radio allowed him to connect with friends and family in meaningful ways, establishing bonds that transcended distance. John was a friend to everyone, always willing to lend an ear and share a story. His openness to talk to anyone and everyone was well-known and contributed to the warm and inviting aura he carried.
In his life, he was surrounded by a loving family who meant the world to him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 ½ years, Evetta Warren, and his three children: Pam Warren, Curtis Warren, and Annisa Piper, along with her husband Joe. His legacy will also live on through his grandchildren who affectionately called him Papa: Alisa, Duane, and Alex; as well as his great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Ava, Adrianna, Jacob, Jonathan, Noah, Elijah, and Kara who were a source of immense pride and joy for him. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Darlene Burnette, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
