John Robert "Bob" Huskey, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Hendersonville, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on October 23, 1936, in Asheville, he lived a life marked by dedication, intelligence, and creativity.
Bob proudly served in the U.S. Army, exemplifying the values of commitment and service throughout his life. He spent an impressive 37 years working for Ford Farm Equipment, where his talents shone brightly as he designed hydraulic equipment and held several hydraulic patents. His remarkable capabilities made him an invaluable asset and led him to be respected in his field. Bob's engineering acumen was matched only by his passion for building engines and racing, hobbies that brought him great joy.
Known for his warm personality, Bob was an awesome husband, father, and grandfather who knew everyone no matter where he went. He was a multi-talented individual, able to whistle tunes and play the harmonica, sharing his love for music with those around him. Bob's family will remember him for his laughter and story-sharing which brightened every gathering.
Bob is survived by his children: Bill Huskey and wife Suzanne, Danny Huskey and wife KC, and Debra Sigmon and husband Billy; as well as seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, each of whom he adored. He also leaves behind his twin sister, Barbara Norman; brother, Johnny Huskey; many nieces, nephews, and extended family who carry on his legacy of love and kindness.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Faye Miller Huskey, who passed away on December 10, 2024. Bob also joins his parents, "WA" William Anderson Huskey and Ellie Masters Pounders; his sister, Janice Jackson; his brother, Big Jim Huskey and wife Mae; and his brother-in-law, Lynn Norman in eternal rest.
A memorial gathering to honor Bob’s life will be held at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, North Carolina, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 27, 2025. His family invites all who knew him to come and celebrate a life well-lived filled with affection, accomplishment, and openness to all. Bob will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. Burial will follow at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.
