Jo Burleson

Arden - Josephine Mae Jo Burnette Burleson, 79, of 153 Tampa Blvd went to be with her Lord Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Universal Health Care. Mrs. Burleson was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired in 1991 from Western Auto where she was Credit Manager following 23 years of service and was formerly employed with Asheville Christian Cable Network and the Asheville City Club. She was a member of the Eastern Star Order # 338 and Biltmore Baptist Church where member of the Worshiper Choir and Ms. Jos Girls Prayer Group. Mrs. Burleson was a daughter of the late Ralph Jennings Burnette and Edith Eloise Kuykendall Burnette. Surviving are her husband whom she married December 13, 1947, James Marion Burleson of the home; sons, Rev. Steve L. Burleson of Asheville and Bobby R. Burleson and wife Jaine of Gastonia; daughter, Diane LeBeau and husband Jack of Arden; step daughter, Kay Duggins and husband Larry of Mt. Home; sister, Johnsie Waddell of Weaverville; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren and 6 step great-grandchildren. A celebration of her life will be held 2 P.M. Sunday at Biltmore Baptist Church with Lt. Saul Burleson, U.S. Navy, Rev. Sam Burleson, Rev. Sam McLamb and Rev. Carl Setterlind officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery in Madison County. Pallbearers will be Brad Trometer, James LeBeau, Josh Burleson, Gregg McBee, Dwayne Brigman and Jim Derrick.
