HOT SPRINGS Jimmy Lee James, 70, of 76 Old Dixie Road went home to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, whom he had faithfully served for 40 years on Tuesday, December 26, 2006. He left this world behind after a long and couragous battle with A.L.S. He never lost his faith and still witnessed to whomever crossed his path. A native and resident most of his life of Buncombe County and a resident of Columbia, SC for 20 years. He had resided in Hot Springs since October of 1999. He was the owner and operator of Jimmy James Paint Contracting Co., was a member of Hot Springs F.W. Baptist Church, Madison County Gideons and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Mr. James was a son of the late Frank Maurice and Ina Belle Littrell James and was also preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Marie James and half-brother, Lane Harrison Littrell. Surviving are his wife, Edith Gregg James of the home; daughter, Sheila Autry and husband, Danny of Dunn; son, Willis James of Dunn; step-daughters, Judith Ann Parker and husband, Roy of Pelzer, SC and Phyllis Elaine Mars and husband, Dale of Honea Path, SC; sisters, Frankie James and Delores Owens both of Leicester; brothers, Rex James and wife, Ruth of Sevierville, TN, John James and wife, Evelyn of Front Royal, VA, Harold James and wife, Freda of Overland Park, Kansas, Ralph James and wife, Elizabeth, Robert James and wife, Pauline and Jeff James all of Leicester; half-brother, Maurice Plemmons and wife, Judy of Candler; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at Fairview Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Arrowood, Rev. Bobby Hayes, Rev. Randy Wood and Robert James officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Autry, Jeremy Penland, Joshua Penland, Roy Parker, Dale Mars, and Ray Smith. Dr. James Ladd and members of the Gideons will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 PM Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Gideons International, Madison County Camp, PO Box 1182, Marshall, NC 28753.
