Asheville Jimmy Edward Burrell, 68, of 48 Wedgefield Drive, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was formerly employed with Atkins-Harper Lumber, now Builders Way and was a 1964 graduate of Clyde A. Erwin High School. Mr. Burrell was a son of Cora Lee Tipton Burrell of Leicester and the late J.T. Burrell, Sr. and was also preceded in death by his brother, Gary Burrell and sister, Wanda Bradley. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife whom he married February 23, 1965, Jeanette Merrill Burrell of the home; daughters, Penny Stanberry of the home, Lorrie Hutson (Art) and Mary Payne (Joseph) all of Asheville; grandchildren, Ellen, Brian, Caitlyn, Megan, Noah, Mackenzie, Emma and Andrew; great grandson, Alexander; sister, Mary Anne Davis (Doug) of Leicester; brothers, J.T. Burrell, Jr. of Leicester, Robin Burrell (Gail) of Hendersonville and Jackie Burrell (Joann) of Candler; sister-in-law, Diane Burrell of Hendersonville and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 3 PM Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday at the church.
