James Michael Oros

August 28, 1949 — November 10, 2025

Asheville

August 28, 1949 – November 10, 2025, Age 76 James Michael “Mickey” Oros, born August 28, 1949, in Aurora, Illinois, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born to John and Genevieve (Gruszesky) Oros, Mickey lived a life that burned bright—full of curiosity, courage, and an irrepressible spark that inspired everyone who crossed his path.

Mickey is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Sandra K. Oros, his treasured partner in every adventure of life. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Ashley Oros-Robinson, son-in-law Drew Robinson, and the grandchildren who lit up his world, Zavier and Zeo Oros-Robinson. He is also survived by his siblings JC Oros (Diane), Gary Oros (Trisha), and Juli Drayer (Dan); nieces and nephews, Eric Oros (Kristen), Kristen Goff (Jason), Kendyl Drayer (Joel), Jordan Drayer, and Chase Drayer. Mickey is also lovingly remembered by his sister-in-law Kathy Irwin, niece Erica Bockman (Jason), and great-nieces Alexis and Jessica Bockman.

To say Mickey was “one in a billion” hardly begins to capture the magnitude of his presence. He was a true maverick, a man carved from originality and strength, with a warrior’s heart and a mind that never stopped creating. A visionary and world-changing innovator, he lived decades ahead of his time, pouring his brilliance and relentless work ethic into the field of Alternative Energy, determined to leave the planet cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable for generations to come.

Mickey was bold, authentic, and unapologetically himself. He was tenacious in every pursuit, approaching life with an unstoppable will—often outworking and outrunning men half his age. His zest for adventure carried him across the globe. Whether he was engineering solutions, building with his hands, sharing a drink with friends, or spinning stories that filled a room with laughter, Mickey lived with a vitality that made him unforgettable.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a playful and proud “Papa,” and a mentor to countless others. Though he faced profound challenges throughout his life, especially after his diagnosis with mesothelioma, Mickey embodied resilience, meeting every hardship with courage, humor, and extraordinary strength.

His legacy lives on not only in the innovations he created but in the hearts of those who admired, respected, and loved him deeply. Mickey leaves behind a world made better by his generosity, creativity, and indomitable spirit.

He will be forever cherished and forever missed.
