Iva Glenn Shelton Ertzberger

Iva Glenn Shelton Ertzberger, 91, passed away on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Carepartners Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

A native of Madison County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Kelly B. Shelton and Minnie Delova Woody Shelton, and wife of 65 years of the late Ray Ernest Ertzberger who passed away on July 8, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Delora Stidham, Dove Shelton, Roy Shelton, Richard Shelton, Hazel Dellinger, Lois Shelton, Hilda Shelton, and Jessie Shelton.

Mrs. Ertzberger taught students at Hall Fletcher Middle School and Asheville Middle School before retiring from the Asheville City School System following 24 years of teaching. She then continued to tutor students at Vance Elementary School for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Darrell Ertzberger of Corrales, NM, Tim Ertzberger and wife Robin of Hendersonville, NC, Pam Ertzberger of Asheville, NC, and Jeff Ertzberger and wife Heather of Wilmington, NC; grandchildren: Lauren Hodges and husband Brian of Rocky Mount, VA, Luke Ertzberger, Paul Ertzberger, and Joel Ertzberger all of Wilmington, NC; great-grandsons, Daniel Hodges and Joshua Hodges both of Rocky Mount, VA; sister-in-law, Genell Ertzberger of Asheville, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Horse Creek Church of God Cemetery, 900 Old Jonesboro Road, Chuckey, TN 37641.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM on Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home in Asheville, NC.

Flowers are welcomed and appreciated, or donations may be made in her memory to the Historic Johnson Farm, 3346 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
