Hope Black Calloway

May 9, 1933 — February 15, 2018

Asheville Cecilia Hope Robinson Black Calloway, 84, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from CP&L following 23 years of service, and was formerly with Wachovia Bank downtown. Mrs. Calloway was the daughter of the late William Cecil Robinson and Edna Mae McMinn Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Lawrence Eugene Black, Sr. who died November 1, 1972 and second husband, Dallas Roland Calloway who died June 29, 1991 and brother, Bruce McMinn Robinson. Surviving are her sons, Larry Black and Tim Black and wife Ernestina all of Asheville; grandsons, Alan Black and Jonathan Black both of Asheville; granddaughter, Ashley Black of Asheville; step children Richard Calloway of Swannanoa and Teresa Calloway of Memphis, TN; brother, Robert Lee Robinson and wife Sharon of Mansfield, TX and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
