Helen Mason Reece

Fletcher Helen Mason Reece, 82, of Fletcher, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and resident most of her life of Asheville, she had resided in Fletcher for the past three years. She was a 1950 graduate of Fairview High School, where she held the distinction of Valedictorian. Mrs. Reece retired from Eaton Corporation following 25 years of service. She went on to volunteer for over 10 years with Care Partners Hospice. She was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church, and a member of the Red Hat Society. Mrs. Reece was the daughter of the late Arthur Deitz and Faye Plemmons Mason, and the wife of Elmer Oscar Reece, who passed away May 10, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Virginia Merrill and Evelyn Nesbitt; and brother, Bill Mason. Surviving are her son, David Reece and wife Susan of Hendersonville; grandson, Matthew Reece and wife Katy of Asheville; sisters: Ruth Nesbitt of Hendersonville and Yvonne Stratton of Dunnellon, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roy Waldroup and Rev. Don Burchette officiating. Burial will follow in Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 3:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
