George Dewey Young Jr.

Asheville - George Dewey Young, 80, of 145 Sardis Road, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe County, he was self-employed as a building contractor. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Mr. Young was the son of Jennie May Curtis Young of Asheville and the late George Dewey Young. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Young. In addition to his mother, surviving are his daughters: Jeanette Young of Maryland and Polly Bloodworth of Georgia; two grandchildren; sisters: Edith Kilpatrick of Chapin, SC and Joan Parnell of Elgin, SC; brother, James Young of Columbia, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eric Young officiating.
