Geneva Owenby Garrison

June 3, 1915 — October 21, 2003

Fairview - Geneva Owenby Garrison, 88, of 16 Garrison Road went to be with the Lord on Tuesday October 21, 2003 at her residence with her family by her side. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County she was a member of Chestnut Hill Baptist Church. She was a daughter of the late Baxter and Minnie McAbee Owenby and the wife of the late Andrew C. Garrison who died in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her sons, Ralph, Ray and Jerry Garrison; sisters, Nora Spillars, Cora Ve McAbee and Nell Ray Hannon; brothers, Otis, J.B., Ted and Robert Owenby; Grandsons, Steven Wright, Benjamin Garrison and Anthony Ray; son-in-law, Boyd Wright and Daughter-in-law, Ethel Garrison. Surviving are her daughters, Shirley Wright of Black Mountain, Eva Morgan and husband Bobby and Edna Ray and husband James of Fairview; sons, Marvin Garrison and wife Nancy, Joe Garrison and Alvin Garrison all of Fairview, Gordon Garrison and Wife Peggy of Candler; sister, Vernice McFarland of Oakley daughters-in-law, Clara Jenkins Garrison and Martha Garrison both of Fairview; 31 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Chestnut Hill Baptist Church with the Revs. Norris Wright and Ronnie Harris officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times at the home. Memorials may be made: Mt. Area Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, N.C. 28813.
