Francis "Frank" David McDonough, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina, at the age of 88. He was born on January 5, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Francis Patrick McDonough and Victoria Rose Armstrong McDonough.

Frank's professional journey was marked by dedication and commitment as he devoted his entire career to Amerex Corporation in Trussville, Alabama. He took great pride in the relationships he forged during his time with the company. Frank graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College, which laid the foundation for his successful career.

Frank lived in Poughkeepsie, New York, where he raised his family before moving to Trussville, Alabama before embracing retirement in Destin, Florida. In recent years, he resided in the serene mountains of Western North Carolina, where he enjoyed the beauty and tranquility of nature. Frank served honorably in the National Guard, a reflection of his commitment to service and duty.

A passionate golfer, Frank found joy on the course and cherished the time spent with friends and family in this pursuit. He formed many memories through this love for the game, always with a warmth and enthusiasm that brought people together. Frank also dedicated much time with The Knights of Columbus.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Dawn Kelley McDonough, whom he married in 1961. He was a loving father to his sons: Kevin McDonough and his husband Robert Clyman, Jeff McDonough, Michael McDonough and wife Misty, Timothy McDonough, and Brian McDonough and partner Renee Rogers. Frank took immense pride and joy in his grandchildren, Josh, Samantha, Jeanie, Kelli and husband Josh, Patrick and wife Lindy, Leah, Samuel, and Meghan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Shae, Ava, and Delaney. He also leaves behind his sister, Eileen Belanger and her husband Bob, and a nephew, Jonathon, along with many extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Patrick McDonough and Victoria Rose Armstrong McDonough; his daughter-in-law, Luanne McDonough; and his brother, Paul McDonough.

He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love and warmth he brought to those around him. Frank's legacy will live on through his family and the countless lives he touched throughout his life.

The family will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
