Eileen Conner

Old Fort

Eileen Catherine Melton Conner, 82, passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at her home in Old Fort.

A native of Asheville, she was a daughter of the late Bascom Millard Melton and Maude Eileen Ingle Melton. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shannon Conner; and siblings: Billy Melton, Joe Melton, and Marie Bates.

Mrs. Conner worked for the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office for 18 years until retirement as the Patrol Division Office Administrator in 2003.

Those left to cherish her memory are her companion of 22 years, Charlie Robbins, Jr; daughter, Shawn Orr and husband Joe; adopted daughter, Rhonda Ford and husband Mike; sister, Elaine Metcalf and husband Samuel; special nephews: Brent Metcalf, Ross Metcalf, and Casey Metcalf; special nieces: Sheree Montgomery, and Mary Frances Hale, along with many other nieces, nephews, extended family, and ex-husband, Gordon Conner.

A celebration of her life will be held from 4 until 6 PM on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. A private burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Gina Moore for helping to care for Mrs. Conner, of which Mrs. Conner dearly loved.
