Edna Jane Miller Martin

Edna Jane Miller Martin, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 23, 2025, at The Lodge at Mills River.

A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Robert McKinley Miller and Nora Martin Beachboard Miller, and wife of the late Douglas Dean Martin who passed on October 30, 2020. She was also preceded in death by her siblings: Barbara M. Watts and husband Leonard, Bernice Whitted and husband Don, John R. Miller, and Shirley Henson and husband Bud.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Salvation Army from the age of 14 until she was 27, and later a longtime member of Abernethy United Methodist Church. She was also an avid Amateur Radio Operator and EMT. She was a Past President of the Buncombe County Rescue Squad Ladie’s Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Allen Martin and wife Michele, Rodger Martin, and Wanita Martin; grandchildren: Felicia Rumler, Colton Hightower, Candice Hightower and Justin Martin; great-grandchildren: Abrianna Rumler, Theodore Rumler, and Paisley Rumler; brother, William R. Miller and wife Nancy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 12 PM on Monday, June 30, 2025, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Reverend Dianne Johnston officiating. A private burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

The family will receive friends from 11 till 11:45 AM on Monday prior to the service.
