Edith Fox Sutton

ASHEVILLE, NC - Edith Ozell Fox Sutton, age 90 of Candler, and widow of George Wilson Sutton, Sr., entered into rest on Monday, January 7, 2008, at Care Partners Solace Hospice Keever Center. Born on April 21, 1917, in Ranger NC (Cherokee County), she was the daughter of the late Mark Henderson Fox and Rachel Walker Fox. Edith Sutton was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother from whom many sought advice and comfort. She was a dedicated good friend to her peers, as well as those older and younger. Throughout her life, her family, church, and community were focal points for her. She loved gardening, reading, cooking, and puzzle solving. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and a member of Hominy Baptist Church and the Lacey Byrd Sunday School class at the time of her death. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George W. Sutton Sr., a son, George W. Sutton, Jr., two grandchildren, MacKenzie Sutton and Janette Moser Laderer, two sisters, Blanche Fox Kilpatrick and Irene Fox Elrod, seven brothers, Charles F. Fox, Claude E. Fox, Howard L. Fox, Jay W. Fox, Fal A. Fox, Cecil S. Fox, and Herbert M. Fox. She is survived by three daughters, Joye and Don Kaufman of Hanover PA, Lynn Sutton Spain of Hendersonville NC, and Sandra and Lyle Self of Augusta GA, and two sons, David T. and Kay Sutton of Hendersonville NC, and John R. Sr. and Elaine Sutton of Candler NC, 16 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews. Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held at Hominy Baptist Church at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 10, 2008, with Drs. Joe Yelton and Fred Werhan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with pallbearers to be her grandsons, George Wilson Sutton, III, David Kaufman, John Richard Sutton, Jr., Artus Moser, III, Mark David Moser, Thomas Jemison, Colin Jemison, Seth Sutton, David F. Sutton and great grandson, Ethan White, The family will receive friends at Anders Rice Funeral Home, Patton Avenue on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, from 7 to 9 PM.
