Dianna Woody McCain, a beloved member of the Asheville community, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025, in Asheville, North Carolina. Born on December 9, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Dianna grew up and lived all her life in Buncombe County. She led a life marked by love, kindness, and humor, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Dianna embarked on her journey in the beauty industry after graduating from Enka High School in 1963. She pursued her passion for cosmetology at Dilly's Beauty School, where she graduated in 1966. Over the next 62 years, she dedicated her career to beautifying the lives of others, eventually owning and operating Style Rite Hair Fashion in Asheville. Her commitment to her craft not only brought joy to her clients but also established her as a cherished figure in the community.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dianna was a proud and active member of Bethany United Methodist Church since 1976, where her contributions included serving as the choir director. Her faith and dedication were a testament to her character, and she found joy in sharing her musical talents with her congregation, fostering a sense of community through her service.
Dianna was preceded in death by her loving husband, James O. McCain, whom she married on May 16, 1976. James, her partner in life, passed away on October 26, 2016. Dianna is also preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lucille Woody, as well as her brother, David Woody.
She leaves behind a cherished family, including her sister, Jane Caldwell and her husband John of Rutherfordton; her brother, Billy Woody and his wife Evelyn of Candler; and her beloved nephews: Brad Caldwell and his wife Christy, Brian Caldwell and his wife Amy, and Brett Caldwell, all of Rutherfordton. Dianna also takes with her the love of her great niece and nephew, Kinsley and Kallan, who were a source of immense joy in her life.
A funeral service to honor her life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, October 26, 2025, in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charlie Sams and Rev. John Clemens officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
Dianna Woody McCain will be remembered not only for her professional accomplishments and dedication to her community but also for her warm spirit and loving nature. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
