David Shelton

Asheville - David Monroe Shelton, 35, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at his residence following a four month battle with esophageal cancer. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, David worked with his father as a tile setter and attended Faith Tabernacle Christian Center. He loved music, fishing, and hanging out with his friends in downtown Asheville. He was a son of Marilyn Lane Shelton and Jay Shelton and wife Liza. In addition to his parents, surviving are his wife, Elizabeth Mueller Shelton; son, Jacob Shelton; stepsons: Brandon Baldwin and Preston Baldwin; brother, Jay Shelton, Jr.; and sisters: Tammy Ray and husband Dwayne and Lisa Taylor and husband Mark; several nieces, one nephew, and three uncles. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at the Faith Tabernacle Christian Center, 800 Appledoorn Circle, Asheville, NC 28803, with Chris Smith officiating. Davids final resting place will be at Shelton Mission Church in Greeneville, TN. He was the great, great, great-grandson to the founder of Shelton Mission Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a trust fund for Jacob Shelton at any TD Bank branch. It was Davids final wish that his son be taken care of and provided for.
