Catherine Grooms

Candler Catherine Edith Ramsey Grooms, 90, passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. Mrs. Grooms was the daughter of the late James Bunyan Ramsey and Maggie Fortner Ramsey and wife of Wade Frank Grooms who died January 30, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Doris Ramsey Bush; sisters, Evelyn Correll and Shirley Guthrie; brothers, Ralph Ramsey, Robert Ramsey and Charles Burton Ramsey and sister-in-law and best friend, Lillie Mae Stines. Surviving are her daughter, Mary Linda Grooms of Greensboro; son, Wesley Grooms and wife Pat of Candler; grandsons, David and Derek Bush both of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law and treasured friends, Shirley Ramsey of Asheville and Diana Ramsey of Lincoln, AL and special niece, Pat Ramsey Atkins of Candler. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Friday, May 8, 2015 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Mr. William H. Moody officiating. Burial will follow in Pole Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Aston Park Health Care Center and her roommate and special friend, Thelma Ponder and her family for their love and compassion given to our Mom.
