Candler Carol Grooms, 72, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at the John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center. Carol was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, and was a daughter of the late Otis Warren and Bessie Harris Warren. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Shelia Ann Grooms; brother, Harrison Warren and sister, Neva Jo Lollis. Carol was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church for 49 years. She retired from Hamricks Department Store following 24 years of service, where at the time of her retirement, she served as Supervisor of the Childrens Department. She is survived by her husband, J.D. Grooms, whom she married on December 23, 1956, of the home; children, Eddie Grooms and wife Teresa of Candler, Debbie Browning of Asheville, Jamey Grooms and wife Elizabeth of Amherst, Nova Scotia, and Stephanie Davis and husband Mark of Candler; sisters, Kitty OKelly of Candler, and Wanda Coffey and husband Don of Candler; brothers, J.R. Warren and wife Betty of Candler, and Dean Warren and wife Becky of Candler; grandchildren, Nathan, Ashley, Rachel, Aaron, Sarah, Josiah, Joshua, Bethany, and Carlen; great grandchildren, Jade, Emma, Ben, Caleigh, and Aneslynn and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2014 in the Sanctuary of Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Ralph Sexton Jr., Rev. Allen Rash, and Rev. Dwight Parrish officiating. Burial will follow at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Trinity Baptist Church Sanctuary.
