Bessie Jean Branch Haney

Bessie Jean Branch Haney, 70, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Burke County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church. Mrs. Haney was a daughter of the late Dallas A. Washington Branch and Lona M. A. Waycaster and wife of Jerry Carroll Haney who died July 27, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her son, Buster Penley and brothers, Charlie and Bobby. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Haney of West Asheville; step sons, David, Jamie and Kerry Haney; grandchildren, Kristie, Terri and Sherrie; five great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Tallent of West Asheville and Jimmy Branch of Asheville. Memorial services will be held at 4 PM Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Sunrise Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 PM Saturday at the church.
