Bertha Jones Gaddy

Bertha Jones Gaddy, 91, passed on Sunday, September 14, 2014. A native of Haywood County, she resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Charles Newton Jones and Esther Warren Jones. She was also preceded in death by: her siblings; husband, Floyd Weldon Gaddy; and a daughter, Carolyn Gaddy Coddington. Mrs. Gaddy was a member of Westwood Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She retired from J.C. Penny Co. in 1988 after more than 35 years of service. She is survived by grandsons: James Marion Coddington, Jr, Jeffery Mark Coddington, and Joseph Michael Coddington all of Asheville; great grandchildren: Zachary, Taylor, Allie, Andy, Callie, and Jaxen; and by a large extended family. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Monday, September 22, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Carson Moseley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, September 22, 2014, from 12-2 PM at the funeral home.
