Alice Carol Joyce Ardeeser

Leicester Alice Carol Stephenson Joyce Ardeeser, 85, of 738 Crestview Drive, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Fleshers Fairview Health Care Center. A native and resident most of her life of Buncombe County, she was formerly a Teachers Assistant for Kindergartners at West Buncombe Elementary School where she drew yearly portraits of the children which were sent home as Mothers Day gifts. She was formerly a member of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Leicester and Unaka Baptist Church in Murphy. Mrs. Ardeeser was the daughter of the late Jesse David Stephenson and Ethel Clementine Johnson Stephenson and wife of Turner R. Joyce, Jr. who died in 1987 and Norman Ardeeser who died in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Joyce Burton and brothers, David and Roland Stephenson. Surviving are her children, Mary Alice Ramsey (Terry) of Fairview, Connie Pegg of Asheville, Nancy Safrit (Hal) of Chapel Hill, Robert Joyce (Tami) of Asheville, Sharon Gates (Martin) of Leicester and Roger Joyce of Winston Salem; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, January 18, 2016 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Surrett officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill UMC Cemetery.
