Leicester Winston Walsh Casada, 96, of Jones Road entered into eternal rest February 9, 2009 at Pisgah Manor Rehabilitation Facility. He was born December 31, 1912 to the late W.J. and Lucinda King Casada. He was also preceded in death by his son, Garland; wife, Lorena McCall Casada; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. He retired from American Enka Corporation in 1972. He was an avid gardner, giving the fruits of his labors to everyone. He played the banjo for family and friends and was a wonderful provider for his family. Surviving are his daughters, Hazel Penland of Enka, Wanda Robinson (Jerry) of Leicester and Vivian Davis Mitchell of Asheville; son, Donald Casada (Betty) of Hartshorne, OK; brother, Lyle Casada of Leicester and sister, Mae Monroe of Asheville. He has 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Sluder, Rev. Paul Sluder and his grandson, Rev. Lonnie Fox officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Baptist Church Cemetery with grandsons and great grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jerry and Wanda Robinson, 120 Jones Road, Leicester, N.C. The family would like to thank all the loving staff at Pisgah Manor for the excellent care they gave Winston and a special Thank You to Crystal and Vickie who he adopted as his granddaughters and they adopted him as their PapPaw.
