William "Bill" Baker Jr.

October 20, 1922 — December 5, 2009

Asheville - William Bill Marcus Baker, Jr., 87, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday December 5, 2009 at his residence. Bill was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a flight engineer in the U.S. Army Air Corp and Flew the Hump during WWII. Bill was a member of The Basilica of Saint Lawrence Catholic Church and a Fourth Degree in The Knights of Columbus. He was the husband of the late Aileen K. Baker. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Marilyn Liston and her husband and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be held at 10.00 A.M. Friday at The Basilica of Saint Lawrence with Father C. Morris Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The Rosary will be held from 7 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
