Vernie M. Riddle

Arden - Vernie Martha Robinson Riddle, 92, of 25 Laurel Park Drive died Wednesday - February 14, 2007 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a period of declining health. A native of Mars Hill, she resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She was a member of Paint Gap Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Bascombe and Henrietta Ray Robinson and the wife of the late Samuel Nelson Riddle. She was also preceded in death by her 3 sisters and 7 brothers. Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy Sampson of Springdale, AK, Betty Ward of Arden and Shirley Sampson of Candler; 6 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Shelton and Rev. Greg Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Paint Gap Baptist Church Cemetery with Chris Taylor, Duane Sampson, Joe Bob Warren, Keith Fuller, John Long and Dale Robinson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.
