Tommy Hugg

Asheville George Thomas Tommy Hugg, 78, of 30 Harmony Lane passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mr. Hugg retired from Blue Ridge Trucking Company following 20 years of service and attended both Trinity Baptist Church and Calvary F.W. Baptist Church. He was the son of the late O.G. Hugg and Nora Mae House Hugg and husband of the late Martha Faye Whitaker Hugg who died August 29, 1977 and Dorothy June Sayles Hugg who died February 19, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his son, George Wayne Hugg who died June 27, 2006. Surviving are his son, Ray Hugg (Flo) of Douglas, WY; step son, Edward Lee and wife Andrea of Asheville; grandchildren, Gabby Woody, Tommy, Anthony and Dustin Hugg, Jacob, Dylan and Faith Lee; four great grandchildren; sisters, Annie Mae Tipton of Greensboro and Bernice House of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Revs Allen Rash, Donnie Walker and Frank Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 4 to 6 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
