Sadie Peek Swann

Asheville Sadie Peek Swann, 99, of 600 Barrett Lane passed away Monday, October 13, 2008 at Givens Health Center, Givens Estates. She was a native of McDowell County and the daughter of the late Jim and Lou McDarris Peek. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert Wesley Swann who died October 11, 1969 and by her daughter, Jerleen Culberson. Mrs. Swann was a Buyer for 34 years with Winners Department Store and for 6 years with Bon Marche. She was the oldest living charter member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and sung in the church choir. Surviving are her son, Milton F. Swann & wife, Helen of Jonesboro, GA, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews including her niece and caregiver, Barbara Howard of Fairview. Funeral services will be held 3 P.M. Sunday at Woodland Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Hopkins and Rev. Bill Newton officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 PM Sunday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
