ASHEVILLE, NC - Robert (Bob) Eugene Bowman, age 82, died Saturday, October 2, 2010. Born October 8, 1927 in Huntington, Indiana to William L. and Marie (Baker) Bowman, he attended Huntington High School and Huntington College and graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education. Subsequently, he attended the University of Iowa and obtained both Master of Arts and Doctoral degrees in Office Management and Business Education. While attending college, he was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Pi Omega Pi, Blue Key, and Delta Pi Epsilon honorary and professional societies. Robert served in the US Army from 1946 to 1948. On July 27, 1963, he married C. Dale Wilds in Madison County, Kentucky. Robert was a professor in the College of Business at Ball State University for 32 years until retiring in 1990. Bob was an active member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Muncie, Indiana for over 30 years and served in various leadership roles including president of its council. At the time of his death, he was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School, Asheville. Survivors include C. Dale (Wilds) Bowman, wife, of Asheville; Brett E. Bowman, son, of Saint Paul, Minnesota; William J. (and Patricia) Bowman, brother, of Markle, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School. Interment will be at Emmanuel in a private service at a later date. Relatives and friends are welcome at a reception immediately following the service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church and School, 51 Wilburn Place, Asheville, NC 28806; Parkinsons Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018; or to another charity of the donors choice. Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
