Phillip Edward Parham

February 28, 1935 — January 17, 2004

Marshall - Phillip Edward Parham, 68, died Saturday, January 17, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A native of Buncombe County. He had resided in Madison County since 1991. Mr. Parham retired in 1997 from ABF Freight Lines as a truck driver, was a member of The Teamsters Union Local #61, was an avid country and blue grass music lover and guitarist and had served in the U.S. Army. He was the son of the late Lloyd Mitchell and Nora Rose Roberts Parham. Surviving are his daughter, Julie Parham Bland and husband, Bob and grandchildren, Turner Phillip Bland and Della Jane Bland all of Columbia, SC; sisters, Peggy Wilson and husband, Edwin and Carole Bivins and husband, Claude all of Asheville; nephew, Philllip Wilson and wife, Angie of Northville, MI; niece, Elizabeth Bivins of Nashville, TN. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will be in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Newfound Baptist Church, P.O. Box 6, Leicester, NC 28748 or Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 200 Mt. Carmel Road, Asheville, NC 28806.
