Pansy Y. Wilson

November 21, 1920 — July 16, 2013

West Asheville Pansy Young Wilson, 92, of 34 Tahkieostie Trail, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013 following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from Kellwood Mfg and then from Biltmore Forest Country Club. After retirement, as a loving grandmother and great grandmother, she spent many hours with her grandchildren. Mrs. Wilson was a charter member of Riverview Baptist Church, having embroidered pillow cases to raise funds for the purchase of windows while the church was being built. Later, her membership was at Craven Street Baptist, now known as Westwood Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late William Augustus Gus Young and Alice Lunsford Young and the wife of Blaine E. Wilson who died March 23, 1959 and Coleman Wilson who died April 20, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Evelyn Fletcher and Helen Lee and brothers, Charles Young and Billy Young, Jr. Surviving are her daughter, Dr. Linda M. Briggs and husband Earl of Fairview; grandchildren, Catherine McCraw (Barry), Blaine Briggs (Keila), Norman Briggs and Gordon Briggs; seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, July 19, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Young officiating. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at the funeral home. A special thanks to Beckys Rest Home and the special people who lovingly cared for her during her illness.
