Norma Allene Vaughn Martin, 90, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Asheville, she was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Asheville Wesleyan Church where she was involved with several different ministries of the church. Mrs. Martin was a daughter of the late William Eston Vaughn and Ruth Helen Taylor Vaughn and wife of James Monroe Martin who died in June of 1980. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Alga Wix and Edith Connor; brother, William Vaughn and a great-great grandson, Tucker. Surviving are her children, James Monroe Martin, Jr. of Asheville, Vicky Martin Smith (Jay R) of Simpsonville, SC and Brenda Martin Greene of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Kellye, Nicole, Tiffany, Phillip and Matthew; six great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister, Freda Embler of Asheville and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM, Friday, May 25, 2018, at the Asheville Wesleyan Church with funeral services to follow at 2 PM with Pastor Harry Widener officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The Martin family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to the staff of the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center and her caregivers at her home.
