Asheville - Norma June Mickey Shultz, 59, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, February 9, 2005. Her family and friends are saddened to see her pass, but know that heaven is rejoicing at her arrival. Mickey is a native of Buncombe County born to the late Norman Vance Davis and the late Beulah Estelle Williams on July 27, 1945. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by brothers John Sandy Davis formerly of Asheville and Bruce Davis formerly of Fairview. She is survived by her loving husband Paul Gordan Shultz; two daughters, Paula Shultz, Ray and husband, Randall Richard Ray and Sidney Shultz Carter and husband, Vince Vellano Carter; three beautiful grandchildren, Richard Gordon Ray, Simon Vincent Carter and Elisabeth Davis Carter; brothers, Marvin Gene Davis and his wife, Ruth Davis of Greer S.C, Ernest Davis and his wife, Annie Davis of Sharpsburg GA; sisters, Barbara Jones and her husband, Bill Jones of Liberty S.C, Patti Harris and her husband, Dr. Ronald Harris of Hendersonville and Betty Cameron of Fairview. She also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles that she loved dearly. Mickey loved the Lord with all of her heart and expressed that love through her every act of kindness. She was the matriarch of her family, always the one to keep everyone together and peaceful. Her light shown the brightest when she was working for the Lord. She has been an active member of Reynolds Baptist Church for nearly thirty years. Her service to her church was endless and she enriched the lives of all she touched. She loved to study the Bible, participate in fellowship and especialy loved to cook. Among her many, many gifts, cooking was the one tool she used to bring people together, provide comfort in times of need, provde a little cheer, or just to say she cared. Sharing this gift with others was her joy. Mickeys legacy to everyone who knew her will be her unwavering devotion to her Lord, her church, her Pastor, her family and her friends. She knew no stranger and anyone who crossed her path considered her a mother figure and a friend. The family is proud and lucky to have had her as long as they did and to share her with everyone. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday,February 13, 2005 at Reynolds Baptist Church with the Reverend Bobby Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Gashes Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with the Deacons of Reynolds Baptist Church serving as pallbearers.
