Candler - Nancy Byrd McIntosh, 83, went home to be with her Lord and her guardian angel, her special grandmother, Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Woodfin, Ms. McIntosh worked for Paramounts Great America theme park in California before returning to Buncombe County. She was an avid NASCAR fan. Ms. McIntosh was the daughter of the late Clarence Mitchell and Verdie Rice Byrd. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers: Michael and Danny Byrd. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa McIntosh, of the home; sister-in-law, Betty Warren of Candler; nieces: Ronda Warren and Janna Jenkins; and her special great, great-nephew, Brian West. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, with the Rev. Louis Gibson officiating. Lisa would like to express a special, heartfelt Thank You to the physicians and staff of Asheville Pulmonary and Critical Care, Cancer Care of WNC, and CarePartners Hospice for the love, care and attention Ms. McIntosh received from them. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Ms. McIntoshs family.
