Myrtle Josie Parris

Arden Myrtle Josie Parris, 82, of Arden, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2010 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Spartanburg, SC, Mrs. Parris had resided in Buncombe County for the past 50 years. She was formerly employed with Gerber Products, and was the primary caregiver for her husband for the past 30 years. She was a member of Skyland Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed going to flea markets. Mrs. Parris was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ethel Lawter Morris, and was the wife of the late Walter Parris. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Parris Rhodes; sister, Macy Horne; and brothers: Fred and Paul Morris. Surviving are her sons: Robert Parris of Skyland and Walt Parris of Sneads Ferry, NC; sisters: Evelyn Crowe and Ila Mae Pruitt, both of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
