Michael Ray Grant

Leicester Michael Ray Grant, 55, of Leicester died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Mission Hospital. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He retired from J&J Cab Services where he served as Manager and was former owner & operator of Riverside Used Auto Parts, was an avid NASCAR & Drag Racer and was very supportive of his family in Stock Car Racing. He loved to restore old cars. He was very involved with Slot Car Racing and was the current champion in the Truck Division at Little Asheville Raceway. Mr. Grant was the son of the late Bascombe Woodrow Grant and Merfule Sprinkle Grant. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Pressley Grant of the home; children, Jessica Grant of the home, Michael Grant of Leicester, Tracy Grant of Weaverville, Christy Miller and Jason Grant & wife, Tonya all of Asheville; grandchildren, Corey, Tracy, Jr., Austin, Katie, Anthony, Haley & Melanie; many special friends and his two special pets, Lady & Rocky. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Whitted and Rev. Gary Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times, the family will be at the home of Jason & Tonya Grant, 20 Merritt Drive, Asheville, N.C.
