Michael Eugene "Mike" Smith

Asheville - Michael Eugene Mike Smith, 36, of Lees Creek Road died Monday June 12, 2006. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was employed by Mountain View Tire Company as Service Manager. He was a son of Ida Mae Hughes McMahan of Asheville and her companion of 21 years, Freddie Edward Tallant. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James Fay Bridges; step father, Skip McMahan and uncle, James Hughes. In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his twin children, Hayley and Michael Smith and son, Colton Smith all of the home; wife, Melissa Smith and step daughter, Haley Townsend both of Asheville; maternal grandmother, Rose Mary Bridges of Asheville; sister, Dawn Brown of Asheville; brother, Brian McMahan of Asheville; 2 uncles, 3 aunts, 1 niece and 4 nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. Charlie Sams and Steve Brockwell officiating. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home and at other times will be at his mothers residence.
