Mary Waldrup

March 29, 1945 — November 10, 2010

Candler - Mary Judith Peters Waldrup, 65, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, November 10, 2010. A native of Erwin, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Mrs. Willie Faye Peters and the late Mr. Eugene H. Peters. Mary spent over 30 years teaching at Candler Elementary School, which was her passion. Over those years of teaching kindergarten, pre-first and first grade, she impacted not only the lives of hundreds of students and their families, but the lives of the other educators as well. While not in the classroom, Mary had many other passions. She loved to work in the yard, walk and play with her dogs, do multiple types of crafts and, make and give away beaded prayer purses. Marys greatest passion in life was her family. In addition to being survived by her mother, she is also survived by her husband, H. Stan Waldrup, with whom she spent nearly 20 years enjoying marriage and friendship. Mary was the incredibly proud mother of Leslie Piercy Rhinehart and her husband Bob and Leigh Piercy Patton and her husband Michael; and the girls father Ronald Piercy. She gained two additional children by marriage - Chris Waldrup and his wife Katherine and Becky Waldrup Johnston and her husband Dan. She has six perfect grandchildren who were her blessings: Madison Sparkle Rhinehart, Robert RoJo Rhinehart, Alexander Poopsie Patton, Alex Shot Rod Waldrup, Elizabeth Bibby Johnston and Charlotte Charlie Patton. She shared with all of them her love of life, laughter and a great sense of humor. There will be a private family service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate Marys life, in the way she would be most grateful, by making donations to the John Keever Solace Center.
